Yet Another Trump Indictment

Former President Trump has been quite busy since I last wrote about his first indictment in March in New York for his hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels. He achieved the trifecta this summer with three more indictments. The first came early in June, which was at his residence at Mar-A-Lago in Florida for mishandling undisclosed documents from his time as President. Then in August, he was indicted in Washington for inciting the January 6 insurrection, which obstructed an official proceeding of the 2020 election. Now, he has been indicted again for attempting to overturn his 2020 election loss against Joe Biden in Georgia.

In this case, Trump was accused of attempting to tamper with the election results in 2020. The prosecution already has evidence of him doing such, but everyone is entitled to a fair trial. In December 2020, Trump called Georgia’s Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, after his loss was announced to Joe Biden. He went on to blatantly add votes to his count, telling their Secretary of State, “What I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than [the 11,779-vote margin of defeat] we have, because we won the state." He straight-up told Raffensperger to give him more votes than Biden to win the state of Georgia’s 16 electoral votes. This is enough evidence in itself to be charged, but with Trump’s record of staying out of jail in previous cases, there still is hope for the twice-impeached President, but not by much.
